The Setup dialog box lets you control some basic functions of Educast, such as hot keys, control corners, icons, etc.
To access the Setup dialog box:
‚àë Under the Apple menu, choose Educast, then choose Start Educast from the list of options. The Control Panel will appear.
‚àë Click the Setup button on the Control Panel.
The Setup dialog box will appear with its tabs, General and Password.
‚àë Click a tab to view that set of controls.
‚àë After you have made all the changes you want, click OK to save them and close the dialog box. Click Cancel to close the dialog box without any changes taking effect.
General
The General controls let you adjust the following features:
Sleep in __ minutes: To change the amount of time before the screen saver starts on an inactive screen, click in the text box and type the number of minutes you want.
Sleep corners: The sleep corners are on when the Enable sleep corners box is checked. In the picture of the screen, click and drag the + and - boxes to the corners you want to use on your actual monitor. When you move your mouse to the + corner of your screen, the screen saver starts immediately; when you move your mouse to the - corner, the screen saver will be prevented from starting.
Sleep hot key: When the Sleep hot key box is checked, you can use the hot key to start the screen saver. The default is ‚åò+CONTROL+S. To change the hot key, type a new letter in the text box.
Note: The ‚åò and CONTROL keys will automatically be included as part of the hot key combination. You can also use a Function (F) key as part of your hot key combination. Don't choose a hot key already being used by another program.
Show icon at startup: When this box is checked, the Start Educast icon will appear on the desktop.
Show "Please wake up": When this box is checked, this message will appear on-screen if the screen saver is running when another program (for example, an electronic mail program) wants your attention.
System IQ activity monitor: When this is checked, Educast will not start if there is activity on the printer or modem port, or if your system is otherwise engaged in memory-intensive activity. If Educast is already running when such activity begins, Educast will slow down so as not to compete for scarce memory resources.
Wake on mouse movement: When this box is checked, the screen saver will turn off when you move your mouse. Clear this box if you want to prevent the screen from waking up as a result of mouse movements. Then you can use your mouse to explore Educast’s various channels, programs, and articles. (The box is unchecked when you first install Educast.)
Password
You can add password protection so that once the Educast screen saver starts, only you can turn it off.
Set Password: Use this to add or change a password.
‚àë Click the Set Password button, then enter a password (up to 16 characters) in the text box that appears. For security, asterisks will appear when you type. Note: You cannot use the CONTROL or OPTION key in your password.
‚àë Another text box will appear, asking you to repeat the password.
‚àë Click OK to confirm the password after you have entered it a second time.
Require password on wake-up: Check this box to turn password protection on. Uncheck the box to turn password protection off. When you try to close the Educast screen saver while password protection is on, you will be prompted to enter your password. When you enter the correct password and click OK, the screen saver will close.
